September 25 marks the release date of Silent Hill f, the first completely brand-new, main series Silent Hill game since Downpour released in 2012. Recent years have seen Konami mount an impressive comeback in the gaming industry, leveraging its popular IPs to great success. Konami’s horror franchise Silent Hill has been a key part of the company’s renewed gaming focus, with projects like Silent Hill: Ascension and Silent Hill: The Short Message joining larger-scale efforts like the critically-acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake. Next up for Silent Hill fans is Silent Hill f, which is taking the series in some bold new directions.
Whereas past Silent Hill games have largely been set in America, Silent Hill f instead takes place in 1960s Japan. Silent Hill f protagonist Hinako Shimizu finds herself coming face to face with all manner of horrific creatures in typical Silent Hill fashion, and she will have to defend herself using the game’s new melee combat system. It looks incredibly promising, and the wait for its release date is nearly at an end.

Some fans are concerned about Silent Hill f‘s combat and are worried that it won’t be as scary as previous entries in the series. Others have expressed their excitement for Silent Hill‘s new direction, but ultimately, we won’t know for sure how it turns out until later this month. While the game’s release date is September 25, it’s worth pointing out that those willing to spring for Silent Hill f‘s Digital Deluxe edition will get two days early access, so we won’t have to wait quite as long to find out how it stacks up as we would have otherwise.
Silent Hill f Tokyo Hands On
Even if Silent Hill f is a swing and a miss, there are more Silent Hill projects on the horizon for fans to look forward to, which is nice considering how long the franchise was dormant. The Silent Hill: Townfall spin-off game is in the works, while SH2 remake developer Bloober Team is confirmed to be working on a Silent Hill 1 remake. On top of all that, the Return to Silent Hill movie will hit theaters on January 23, 2026.
