Steam users have until August 4 to snag Barro GT for free. Even though Steam doesn’t have specific weekly game giveaways like the Epic Games Store or “free” games through subscriptions like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass, users of the platform still get plenty of freebies. Free games are given away through Steam on a regular basis, ensuring PC gamers can build a huge library of titles without paying a dime.
This past month has seen its fair share of Steam free game giveaways. Steam users have been treated to titles like Ultimate Zombie Defense, Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, and more, with the free games representing a variety of genres. The latest Steam free game will appeal to racing game fans, especially if it lives up to its reputation.

From online multiplayer titles to local masterpieces, Steam has plenty of fantastic co-op games that cover a wide spectrum of genres.
Barro GT is free on Steam until August 4 at 12:00pm CT, at which point it will revert to its usual asking price of $4.99. For those unfamiliar with the game, Barro GT is an arcade racing game inspired by the classics. Developed and published by SC Jogos, Barro GT has earned “Very Positive” reviews with nearly 600 reviews logged so far. The game is being made free as part of Steam’s ongoing Racing Fest, which gives users the opportunity to snag racing games at steep discounts.
Barro GT may not be as graphically-advanced as some of the other racing games on the market, but it has an undeniable fun factor and its old-school art direction is charming and nostalgic, in a way. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it being free means that Steam users have absolutely nothing to lose by snagging it for their digital libraries while it’s still up for grabs. Again, anyone interested in getting Barro GT completely free of charge has until August 4 to do so. The clock is ticking, but there should still be time for racing game fans on Steam to get it.
In the meantime, PC gamers willing to branch out to Steam’s competitor, the Epic Games Store, have other freebies to check out this week. Until July 31, Legion TD 2 is free on the Epic Games Store. At that point, it will be swapped out for Keylocker and Pilgrims, both of which will be free until August 7. PC gamers should definitely be sure to snag Barro GT and all the other freebies up for grabs this week, all the while keeping watch for other potential free game giveaways.
