Strongest Characters in Sakamoto Days
Description
Spoiler warning – this article is based on the manga, not the anime.
The Sakamoto Days manga series has been a roaring success, and the second part of its anime adaptation is airing in the Summer 2025 season. The latter is not quite as good as the former, but it is mostly decent. That said, you should check out the manga. Sakamoto Days follows the life of Taro Sakamoto, who once upon a time was the ultimate assassin and the greatest hitman. He was so infamous that he attracted the hatred and awe of many of his colleagues.
Suddenly, one day, all of that stopped when he fell in love and retired. Now, posing a chubby store-keeper with a family, the dangers of his former life have reared their heads again, threatening to take away the life he has built. The series, albeit comedic, poses quite a cast in terms of power-scaling, with characters that defy the logic of strength and power, with Sakamoto being one of those characters. In this light, here are Sakamoto Days‘ strongest characters.
Updated on August 24, 2025 by Mark Sammut: Sakamoto Days Part 2 is moving along nicely and is shaping up to be far better than its predecessor. However, the anime has a long way to go before it reaches the manga. We’ve added four more characters, including two (Oki and Gozu) who only recently received proper showcases.

Atari
The Fortune Teller
OK, let’s get started with a special case. Atari is not physically one of the strongest characters in Sakamoto Days, and she is arguably not even on the same level as Shin. However, she has perhaps the most (potentially) overpowered ability in the series, one that allows her to almost flawlessly predict the future. She uses this power to easily survive a battle with Tenkyu, although she needs some help to ultimately defeat him. So, unlike nearly every other character in this discussion, Atari is the ultimate support figure who can pretty much make any group or person invincible if she is on their side.

Sakamoto Days is a thrilling action-comedy manga, and these are some works that are similar to the riveting series.
On her own, Atari is extremely dangerous as well, as it is nearly impossible to catch her off-guard. Her predictions are also not based on just immediate futures, as she gains information relating to events happening in a few days. Due to being a fairly late addition to the manga, she has not had that many showcases so far, as she has only really featured in one fight.

Hyo/Kumanomi
A Complicated Situation
- Manga Debut (Hyo): Chapter 14
- Manga Debut (Kumanomi): Chapter 121 (Full Debut)
OK, these two characters are pretty difficult to rank, and they are directly tied together.
- Hyo is introduced as one of the Order’s members, at least initially. He generally relies on his physical capabilities rather than weapons, and he is not only extremely strong but also very fast. Sadly, he only gets one major fight in the manga: vs Kumanomi.
- As a member of X’s Organization, Kumanomi is a dangerous assassin in her own right, and she is also a physical specimen similar to Hyo. Unlike the Order member, she relies on special gloves to give her an electromagnetic advantage.
So, why are these two sharing a spot? Surely, the person who won the fight should be ranked higher. I mean, Kumanomi straight-up kills Hyo, which is one of the only true deaths in Sakamoto Days. How can she not simply be stronger than the character she defeated? Well, Hyo dominates their fight and walks through most of Kumanomi’s hits without too many issues. The tide turns when Kumanomi begins to target innocent people, taking advantage of Hyo’s kind heart as he tries to save them.
In a vacuum, Hyo would frankly destroy Kumanomi; however, Hyo’s weakness makes him a pretty easy target, and it cannot be ignored since most assassins would exploit it.

Osaragi
The Never Try Hard Member of The Order
Osaragi is one of the newest members of the Order, a group of the strongest assassins that make up the Japanese Association of Assassins. Described as childish and also leaning into impulsiveness, Osaragi is the type of person who acts without any forethought of her actions while simultaneously being extremely apathetic to those around her.
Her skills and strength are not up for debate as an assassin, given her presence within the Order. Her match-up against Dump, an A-ranked assassin who had previously killed 180 people, further alludes to her abilities, as she could dispose of the assassin quickly. However, despite her obvious power level, Osaragi’s placement is justified because she has so far not fought anyone nearly on par with her, and even when in battle, she has not had to try hard enough for an opponent.
12
Kanaguri
The Film Fanatic
Quite underrated as an assassin due to his casual goofiness, Kanaguri is an undercover member of the antagonist, Kei Uzuki’s organization, and an ex-member of the Order— a feat alluding to the quality of his abilities as an assassin. More than anything, however, Kanaguri is known for a fanatical approach to filmmaking. An avid filmmaker, Kanaguri is a lover of the craft, up to the point of obsession, as he can become manic when trying to film a moment he deems critical.
As an assassin, even as an ex-member of the Order, Kanaguri is easily one of the strongest assassins in Japan. However, his abilities are somehow linked to his camera, specifically his love for filming. Kanaguri becomes demotivated if his camera gets destroyed and vice versa. However, his battle against fat Sakamoto is an eye-opener, as he casually fought on par with him, even tanking Sakamoto’s attacks. Even more surprising, Kanaguri still matched Sakamoto when the latter went into his slimmer form and only withdrew after stating that he preferred to die on his terms.

Satoru Yotsumura
The Banished One
One of the pioneers and founding members of the Order, Yotsumura, is one the few characters the series unfortunately never depicts at the peak of their powers. However, despite now working against the J.A.A., Yotsumura’s former position within the Order alludes to the capacity of his abilities. A man of very few words, Yotsumura exudes extreme calmness, even during battle, as seen by his expression when faced with three Order members who were sent to kill him, among which was his former protege, Shishiba.

The 8 Most Iconic Mentor-Mentee Pairs In Anime
Most heroes in anime need a mentor before realizing their fullest potential. These relationships are some of the genre’s most famous.
For an assassin, Yotsumura is incomparably stronger than the average assassin, with his preferred weapon, a bladed three-section staff. Able to stave off Shishiba and Nagumo simultaneously, only losing out when Osaragi joined the fray. Yotsumura, like the others on this list, is exceptionally adept at close combat and possesses reflexes and speed comparable to Nagumo’s despite his old age. Yotsumura, however, does not go any higher up in the list due to his relatively easy loss to Shishiba, although he did not die from the encounter.
10
Kindaka
The Fastest Assassin Alive
Another founding member of the Order, Kindaka, has been expressly stated to be the fastest assassin ever in the series. This is also shown by how, in Taro Sakamoto’s Past Arc, Nagumo and Sakamoto could not match or keep up with his top speed. Relatively relaxed in most situations, Kindaka initially seems laid back; however, his calmness works in tandem with his coolheaded perception of his opponents and environment.
As a former member of the Order, Kindaka is one of the most powerful assassins throughout the history of the J.A.A. While other assassins have their abilities divided out, Kindaka’s feats of strength and power stem directly from his incredible speed. Preferring to weaponize his shoes to enhance his speed even more, Kindaka, unfortunately, is never able to hit his top speed, as he injures his back during his confrontation against Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Rion. However, his current speed is well enough to overwhelm all placed below him on this list with any overriding factor, possibly his old age.
9
Shishiba
The Former Rogue
One of the stronger assassins in the present Order, Shishiba was Yotsumura’s protege in the past. Before finally joining the Order, Shishiba was a rogue assassin who did as he pleased. Like his former master, Shishiba also adopts the mentorship approach towards his relationship with Osaragi. Like his protege, Shishiba is indifferent to everything, with an aloof presence that shows little to no concern for anything or anyone.

However, Shishiba firmly believes in the simplicity of life, an ideal that transfers to his preferred weapon of choice, a pair of hammers. In terms of strength, Shishiba is one of the strongest assassins of the Order, and could be even stronger should he adopt a different mindset concerning his missions. A master combatant with incredible speed and reflexes, Shishiba was fast enough to kill Kashima, a top-ranking member of Slur, without the latter even noticing. However, the biggest reason for his placement on this list is his casual defeat of Yostumura, alongside the potential he carries as an assassin yet to enter his prime.
8
Gozu
An Electrifying Assassin
- Manga Debut: Chapter 211 (Full Debut)
After a few earlier mentions, Gozu finally made his Sakamoto Days debut in chapter 211, instantly leaving his mark as he quickly pushes Shishiba to his limit. Although he has not really done all that much in the manga, Gozu is very clearly regarded highly by Uzuki, being seen as one of the most useful and strongest members of X’s Organization. With a laid-back demeanor and a pretty cool aesthetic, Gozu is one of the more eye-catching assassins in the series, a perception amplified by his mastery of electricity.
While he is probably not totally dependent on his main weapon, Gozu utilizes special nail guards to conduct electricity, allowing him to not only shock people but also manipulate items. Beyond this element, Gozu seems to be pretty resistant to damage, as he takes an unguarded hit from Osaragi and mostly laughs it off.
7
Oki
The Order’s Leader
Oki is kind of a weird case. Obviously, as the leader of the Order, he is an extremely powerful assassin who is capable of demanding loyalty and respect from some of the strongest Sakamoto Days characters. However, so far, he has mostly just given instructions, only briefly getting involved in fights. Consequently, it is kind of difficult to know how strong he really is, and it is safe to assume that he is probably weaker than the likes of Takamura and Uzaki.
Still, Oki has been impressive during the two main times he has been involved in battles. On both occasions, he found himself in 2v1 situations. He initially goes up against Satoru and Kindaka, and then he faces off against Shishiba and Osaragi. All four characters are extremely capable fighters, but they failed to get any significant hits on Oki.
6
Gaku
The Prodigious Talent
One of the younger assassins in the series, Gaku, is an assassin working with Slur who was raised in an orphanage designed to replicate Order member assassins and is a part of X’s organization. Laidback and relaxed, Gaku is mostly nonchalant, as shown by his behavior in battle, where he casually snacked during a fight and used a restroom after being blasted through it. However, Gaku is also extremely cold and cruel in battle, as shown by his casual massacre of hundreds of J.A.A. members.
In terms of skill and ability, Gaku’s potential is arguably the highest in the series, and this does not yet include what he can do as he’s already one of the most powerful characters in the series, as he’s the only one to have survived a fight with Takamura, which is incredible regardless of having lost an arm and an ear. Possessing incredible raw physical strength exceeding even Nagumo and possibly on par with Sakamoto, Gaku is also incredibly fast on his feet, standing on par with Nagumo. It is both fortunate and unfortunate that, so far, Gaku’s faceoffs have been against the undoubtedly strongest members of the Order, and that in itself is an allusion to his incredible capabilities, which still have even more room for growth.
