Monster Hunter Wilds Large Monster Tier List
Monster Hunter Wilds has an impressive lineup of large monsters for players to battle against, and each tests players’ skills in different ways.
Arguably, the biggest staple to any hunter is their weapon of choice. The Monster Hunter franchise offers a variety of designs for its iconic 14 weapons, allowing players to choose from different options. Monster Hunter Wilds is no different, but there has not been a way to use a specific design without using the weapon itself. Now, thanks to Title Update 2, players can use a layered weapon system, allowing them to change weapon cosmetics without altering their stats. Here are some of the best weapons to turn into layered weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Historically, the Sword and Shield can have many designs that drastically change what the weapon looks like while retaining its abilities in-game. The Jin Dahaad Sword and Shield is a fine example, turning the sword into a spiked ball and chain flail.
While the weapon is drawn, the flail has proper physics that match the character’s movements. This includes when players are attacking a monster. It provides a unique look to one of the most well-rounded weapons in the entire game.
One of the most popular weapons in the franchise, the Longsword has seen many designs over the years. However, almost all of them typically have a sword sheath that sits along the player’s back while they use it. The Zoh Shia Longsword breaks that trend with a unique animation for when it is sheathed and drawn.
When it is drawn during combat, it looks like a typical Longsword with Zoh Shia’s particular visual style. However, once sheathed, the Zoh Shia Longsword encases itself in a unique cocoon of sorts that gives off an incredibly unique look. This feature makes it a standout among all other Longsword designs currently in the game.
Taking after the flagship monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Arkveld Dual Blades have a unique transformation effect that pays homage to the Arkveld’s standout features. While they are drawn and used outside of Demon Mode, these weapons look like a typical set of double-ended Dual Blades.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Lagiacrus Fight Should Only Be the Tip of the Iceberg
Title Update 2 added the throwback aquatic beast Lagiacrus to Monster Hunter Wilds, but its main mechanic shouldn’t be exclusive to it.
However, upon entering Demon Mode, they extend apart into a chain whip design that is reminiscent of an Arkveld’s wings during combat. Similarly to the Jin Dahad Sword and Shield, the physics of these chains react to the player’s movements and add a unique look that stands out from what Dual Blades are traditionally known for, design-wise.
As any Greatsword user knows, this weapon isn’t known as the flashiest armament a hunter could use. It is always a straightforward weapon with simple designs that play into the absurdly large sword aesthetic. However, the Jin Dahaad Greatsword adds some unique animations while sheathed.
While drawn, it looks like how it is displayed when selecting it in the inventory or crafting it. Upon stowing the weapon, however, it transforms and condenses into a more compact design, accompanied by a new animation. If players are looking for a greatsword that breaks that simplistic design mold, this is the weapon to choose.
Of the many monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, Nu Udra is one of the most unique designs to be added in a long time. Going with that theme, this monster’s Hammer captures that essence and laces it into its core mechanics.

How to Complete New Fashion Old Feelings Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
Fashion is a staple in Monster Hunter Wilds and Gemma wants to put your skill to the test in the New Fashion Old Feelings Quest. Here’s how to do it.
Whenever charging an attack while using the Nu Udra Hammer, the weapon’s giant blue eye will open once the attack is fully charged. This makes the Hammer look like a part of the monster that has been implemented into the Hammer itself. If players are looking to add this ominous look to their hunter, this is a great weapon to complete that look.
Keeping with the theme of the apex monsters, the Rey Dau Light Bowgun encapsulates the titular monsters’ electric nature. Its design is reminiscent of a railgun found in science fiction movies, but still retains that robust grit that Monster Hunter weapons are known for.
Looking closely at its design, it even has spinning coils around where the barrel of the gun would be and a roaring electric effect emanating throughout the entire weapon. It is easily one of the best-looking Light Bowgun designs in the entire game, and adds this unique aesthetic to any hunter.
In preparation for its arch-tempered form, Uth Duna conveniently has a Bow design that stands out from the others. Most Bows in Monster Hunter follow a similar design where the weapon can fold in on itself when stowed. However, the Uth Duna Bow deviates from that philosophy.
It opts for a traditional longbow look that stays whole even when stowed. It is an elegantly beautiful weapon design that stands out from the more rugged designs typically found in the game, and it can elevate any hunter’s look.
