Cronos: The New Dawnhas received its first hotfix that focuses largely on save issues, bugged achievements, and small quality-of-life feature additions. One of September’s biggest new games, alongside titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong, Borderlands 4, and Silent Hill f, Cronos: The New Dawnwas released to incredibly positive reviews, becoming one of 2025’s best horror titles so far.
The developer behind Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team, has been on the rise in the horror game space as of late. Known largely for the Layers of Fear series, Bloober was widely considered a mid-tier horror studio, as titles like Blair Witch and The Medium failed to make a large impact on horror game fans. This was until about a year ago, when Bloober dropped its Silent Hill 2 remake to widespread praise. Gamers and critics alike were impressed that Bloober was able to handle the remake of the beloved classic with such care. If Silent Hill 2 was Bloober’s proving ground, Cronos: The New Dawn is an opportunity for the studio to show what it can do with its very own Dead Space and Silent Hill-inspired survival horror IP.
Less than a week since Cronos: The New Dawn‘s release, Bloober Team has come out with the game’s first hotfix that goes live today, September 10, on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and will come to Nintendo Switch 2 at some point soon. In a post on Steam, Bloober laid out all the fixes and improvements it’s implementing with the hotfix, many of which have to do with the game’s save and autosave system. There were different points in the game at which players could have their progress blocked due to “save compatibility issues,” which have been ironed out by Bloober. A handful of spotty autosave triggers have been patched up as well.
Cronos: The New Dawn‘s new hotfix also addresses issues with three of its achievements either not popping or failing to record progress. This happened with the Boon of the Relics achievement, where progress wouldn’t track for players who purchased weapons at Cronos‘ Workstation shop. The Pathfinder achievement also caused issues for players who skipped a particular cutscene. Finally, the Pyromaniac achievement, awarded to players for burning a piece of biomass with the Pyre ability for the first time, would fail to unlock. All three of these achievements have been fixed in this first Cronos hotfix alongside several other solved issues and improvements.
While Bloober Team mentioned that Nintendo fans will have to wait a bit longer for the hotfix to be applied to the Switch 2 version of Cronos: The New Dawn, it shouldn’t take too long, as updates, patches, and hotfixes typically roll out to all platforms within a few days max. This being the case with Cronos‘ first hotfix, Switch 2 users should keep an eye on Bloober Team’s social media for word on when the hotfix goes live for Nintendo’s new platform.
