Dragon Ball
The Saiyans are the most recognizable race in the entire Dragon Ball franchise. Ever since the early days of this series, they have been the main focus of the story through Goku, and ever since Z started, their importance in the overall universe has only skyrocketed even more. Despite the race largely being wiped from the universe, the surviving remnants are some of the strongest beings in existence.
The reason for this is the unique property that all Saiyans have, which is the inherent ability to grow stronger with each battle. Through this, notable members of the race have unlocked various transformations that boost their speed, strength, and overall power many times. So, in this article, let’s break down and rank the strongest forms of every Saiyan warrior in Dragon Ball.

Every Saiyan Warrior |
Bear witness to the ultimate power of the Saiyans, Kakarot! The Giant Ape! Destroyer of planets!
One of the biggest reasons why the Saiyans have garnered a reputation as the ultimate warrior race in their universe is because of their ability to transform into the Oozaru, or Great Ape. This is a multiplier that increases their strength by many degrees and turns them into giant, violent monsters, which has proven to be invaluable in their history of conquering planets. Every peripheral Saiyan in the franchise boasts Oozaru as their strongest form.
Kid Trunks First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Z, Episode 126, “The Androids Appear” |

Goten First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Z, Episode 201, “I am Saiyaman!” |
You were able to become… a Super Saiyan?!
In the Buu Saga, it was shown that Trunks and Goten were true Saiyan prodigies who unlocked the Super Saiyan transformation when they were just children. Through their use of these powers, they became incredibly strong, but unfortunately, they never grew past the use of Super Saiyan, relying mostly on fusion to make up for the gap in power that they often needed. Even though they’re teenagers now, they can only use Super Saiyan.
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Z, Episode 184, “Cell Juniors Attack!” |

Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Cabba, Caulifla |
Throughout the entire Tournament of Power, none were more impressive than the Saiyans from both Universe 7 and Universe 6. Here, Cabba and Caulifla underwent a lot of growth in their power as well as their understanding of it, eventually unlocking Super Saiyan 2, which stayed as their main transformation until they both got knocked out. Though Caulifla tried to unlock Super Saiyan 3 as well, she was unable to, so she stuck with Super Saiyan 2.
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Super, Episode 100, “Rampage! A Crazed Warrior’s Savegery Awakened!” |

Kale |
Just as I feared… she’s on a rampage!
From the three Universe 6 Saiyans, there can be no doubt that Kale was the strongest of them all. Unfortunately, her potential initially proved to be far too great for her to handle, leading to the birth of her unhinged and violent ‘Berserk’ form. Eventually, with the help of Caulifla, she learned to control her rage and unlocked a Super Saiyan form that kept all the strength of this state but also allowed her to keep a clear mind, leading to one of Universe 6’s strongest warriors.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly |

Broly Arc |
I was so sure my strength was getting close to its peak, but then this guy showed up and he was so much stronger than me! He’s probably even stronger than Beerus!
Similarly to Kale, Broly also had an incredibly powerful form born through his rage and potential. However, unlike her, Broly’s version was one of the strongest beings in the multiverse, effortlessly allowing him to take down Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan God states and Golden Frieza as well. Although he could never control his full power, Chapter 103 of the manga finally shows him doing so, awakening his Full Power Super Saiyan state, which is on the same level as Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan’s strongest forms.
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 74, “Vegeta vs. Granolah” |

Granolah Arc |
A God of Destruction taught me that power derived solely from instinct is unbounded!
When it comes to the ultimate forms of the four main Saiyans of the series, the difference in strength isn’t very notable. Through Ultra Ego, Vegeta has comfortably situated himself as one of the strongest beings in the multiverse who is able to use the inherent technique of the Gods of Destruction. This is the exact opposite of Ultra Instinct, as it prioritizes taking damage in order to make the next offensive move of the user even stronger, and while there are a bunch of things Vegeta needs to work on, Ultra Ego is his most powerful form.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero |

Super Hero Arc |
My goal is a form that no one has seen yet!
Gohan stated early on in Super that his goal was to unlock a transformation that no one had ever seen, and he ended up doing this with Beast Gohan. This form came out of nowhere but made incredible use of his unparalleled potential, making him so strong that he was able to spar equally against Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku. Many think that Ultra Ego Vegeta should be above him, but until Vegeta masters his Divine Technique, Beast Gohan currently takes the number 2 spot.
First Appearance |
Dragon Ball Super, Episode 129, “Transcending Limits! Ultra Instinct Mastered!” |

Tournament of Power |
Look at that brilliant form… there can be no doubt! This is the true power, complete in all its majesty! This is… Autonomous Ultra Instinct!
Although there is a lot of debate within the fandom about this, there can be no doubt that Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku is the strongest Saiyan in history, at least so far. Using the legendary technique of the Angels, Goku managed to unlock and master Ultra Instinct in the Tournament of Power to defeat Jiren effortlessly. Although he still has a long way to go before he can use the technique to its utmost, he is still the strongest Saiyan in all of Dragon Ball because of it.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
