Description

The Sims universe is unique and quirky across the several games in the series. This is why fans continue to come back to their favorite game, whether it’s an older entry, such as The Sims 2, or the most recent one, The Sims 4.

Whether it’s to add to the game’s quirkiness or to make gameplay more engaging, some things in The Sims just wouldn’t make sense in the real world, and this article lists some of them.

Sims Can’t Multitask

Especially While Cooking

Sims have a queue with several tasks that the player can line up for them. However, the ability to multitask in the game is nearly null. There is a handful of tasks that can be completed while Sims do other things, such as talking or sitting, but it’s not as complex as it could and should be, especially if the developers want to improve the game’s realism.

This is particularly frustrating if the player queues up a longer task, such as making a grand meal or baking a cake. The Sim can only stand there and occasionally look in the oven while they wait for their meal to cook. If it’s going to be in the oven for a long time, it would make sense for this to become a secondary task and allow the Sim to do something else while they wait – even if it’s just something simple like cleaning the kitchen or going to the bathroom. If this feature were to be incorporated into the game, it’d be fun for it to be unlockable as gamers level up their Cooking Skill.

Can’t Make Plans for Later

It’s Either Now or Never

Whenever a Sim calls and asks another Sim on a date or for any other type of social gathering, players can only accept and stop whatever they’re doing to go over right there and then, or they have to refuse the invite altogether. It’s not possible to agree, but schedule it for later on in the day. For many players, this puts them off accepting an invite because they’ve queued up some actions or their Sim still needs to take care of Needs.

Additionally, Simmers cannot throw a party for a certain time of the day without resorting to mods. Once players fill out all of the social event settings, it immediately begins.

No Job Interviews

You Want It, You Got It

Even though Sims can go to university and get a degree, this isn’t actually a requirement for any of the jobs available in-game; it only gives them some advantages, like starting at a higher career level. It is simply not realistic to be able to join many of the careers available in The Sims without some form of higher education.

The Passage of Time

Sims Take Really Long Showers

In The Sims 4, Sims will become pregnant and give birth within about three in-game days. So, it only takes 72 hours for a Sim newborn to join the family. However, it takes around two to three hours for a Sim to take a shower. If we do the math and compare it to the real world, it would mean that Sims take about 274 hours to shower, which is the equivalent of 11 days.

Three hours is more than necessary for a Sim to shower, as it makes it hard to get ready for work on time; one hour would work best. While 15-minute showers wouldn’t be long enough, especially for Simmers who play on 3x speed, three hours feels like way too much time for a quick shower.

Players who want to add realism to their game can use mods, such as MC Command Center, or change how long it takes for their Sims to give birth.

Price Discrepancies

Toilet Paper is a Luxury

Toilet paper is one of the various decorative items that players can place in their bathrooms in The Sims. While they can’t interact with it, it adds realism to a build. In The Sims 4, toilet paper costs 40 Simoleons.

While it may not sound like much since Sims get paid quite well whenever they go to work, it is when compared to the price of a house. The cheapest homes in The Sims 4 cost about 20,000 Simoleons. So, while toilet paper is very expensive, houses are very affordable.
