Description

Season of Infernal Chaos, the tenth upcoming season for Diablo 4, is going to bring with it a lot of permanent changes to the game. Blizzard recently revealed in a blog post on its official website that the controversial boss invulnerability phases, for example, will finally be adjusted in Season 10. Going forward, these invulnerability phases will only occur 10 seconds after a player takes on a Lair Boss. High-level players, therefore, will no longer have to worry about spending longer on a boss battle than they should. As is typical of a seasonal update, Diablo 4‘s tenth season will also introduce some new limited-time features, such as Chaos Rifts and Fleeting Hordes.

The next season of Diablo 4 is going to come out on September 23 on all available platforms. While Blizzard hasn’t given fans an exact idea of how long the season will last, the Diablo 4 roadmap that the company released a few months ago suggests that it will be available until early 2026. Even though Season of Infernal Chaos is just a few days away from being released, players who can’t wait to get their hands on the update should try some other, similar games out in the meantime. There’s a newly-released Deep Rock Galactic spin-off, in fact, that may make the wait for Diablo 4 Season 10 a little more bearable.

Diablo 4 Fans Should Check Out Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Before Season of Infernal Chaos’ Launch

Aside from the fact that they both support co-operative online multiplayer, the hit first-person shooter Deep Rock Galactic is almost nothing like the Diablo games. Its recent spin-off, however, titled Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, has more than a few passing resemblances to Diablo. Unlike the game that it was spawned from, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is an isometric single-player shoot’ em up that takes a lot of inspiration from Vampire Survivors. The game lets players assume the role of a dwarf who goes on a mission to mine ore and other resources, coming face-to-face with hordes of enemies and challenging bosses in the process.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Has a Class System, Sort of Like the One in Diablo 4

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor allows players to choose between various classes and roles when customizing their characters. One class, for example, allows players to drill through enemies, while another gives them the ability to easily dodge enemy attacks and move around quickly. The roles, meanwhile, modify the weapon loadout and base stats of the playable characters. By mixing and matching these classes and roles, players can find the gameplay style that best suits them.

There are 5 stages, or biomes, in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Each of these biomes has its own unique mechanics that make the game progressively more difficult.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is Playable on Xbox and PC, as Well as Game Pass

Even though some players probably haven’t heard of it, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has actually been available to the public for more than a year. The game originally came out in early access on Steam in February of last year, but it didn’t get a 1.0 launch until only recently. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is playable right now on PC and Xbox Series X/S, and it’s available via Game Pass Ultimate, just like Diablo 4. The developers of the game, however, have yet to confirm if it will come to PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch 2 in the future.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Isn’t Exactly the Same as Diablo 4, But It May Scratch a Similar Itch

So far, the reception to Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has been largely positive. Although some players have been critical of the game’s grindy nature, a lot of people seem to consider it one of the better Vampire Survivors clones out there. Sadly, though, the game doesn’t support co-operative multiplayer like the original Deep Rock Galactic does, so players will not be able to play it with their friends for the time being. While Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor may not be exactly the same as Diablo 4, given that it’s an auto-shooter and not a true action RPG, it may be able to scratch the Diablo itch for some gamers until Season of Infernal Chaos’s launch.
