The Nintendo Switch had a great 8-year run, but everything must eventually come to an end. Consequently, the Nintendo Switch 2 is now the new hot console on the market, one that looks set to (hopefully) maintain its predecessor’s momentum. As with most new systems, the Switch 2 will have a fairly quiet 2025 in terms of releases, although there are still plenty of projects slated to debut before the end of the year.
While the hardware is not too exciting an upgrade over the previous console, the platform’s legacy will ultimately be defined by its library. Let’s take a look at all the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games that have been announced, and this is just the beginning.
The focus is on Switch 2 games confirmed for North America. Japanese-only releases will not be included, unless they are confirmed to be coming to the West.
Updated on July 11, 2025, by Mark Sammut: The Switch 2 has had a fairly decent opening month, although it has only written the first chapter of its story. The console’s July 2025 is mostly defined by just one game, at least when it comes to major exclusives. The upcoming Switch 2 games were added to the calendar: Machick 2, NBA 2K26, Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack, and Majogami.
While lacking numbers, July 2025’s Switch 2 games selection has a handful of exciting prospects. Donkey Kong Bananza is set to be, by far, the month’s biggest release, at least on Nintendo’s system. Donkey Kong has not received a showcase game in more than a decade, and he has not starred in a 3D platformer since 1999.
Super Mario Party Jamboree, Wild Hearts, and Ys X are all receiving Switch 2 versions, helping to add some variety to the console’s library. Also, Shadow Labyrinth and No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files look great. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is also a fantastic nostalgic option for anybody who grew up with the classic franchise, or if you are just craving some top-notch skateboarding action. WWE 2K25 has also confirmed plans to launch on the Switch 2.

Every Major Video Game Release Coming To PC
The PC scene never rests as games are always launching on Steam. Here is every upcoming major PC game set to debut in 2025 or later.
August 2025 will, hopefully, develop a bit more within the coming weeks, but the month’s Switch 2 line-up is pretty sparse. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is receiving an upgraded version that comes with a fresh campaign called Star-Crossed World. Although it remains to be seen how extensive this storyline is, the base game is already pretty great.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is a remake of a 2008 Nintendo DS game, and it will only be coming to the Switch consoles and PC. Drag x Drive is a Switch 2 exclusive game that seems to be inspired by Rocket League, albeit with basketball replacing soccer. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road could be fun too, at least if you are into the anime or are craving a sports title.
Not too much has been confirmed for September 2025, but the confirmed Switch 2 games are big in their own right. Star Wars Outlaws garnered a somewhat mixed response at launch, but it is a fun action-adventure title that would never have worked on the original Switch.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion should improve upon its predecessor, which had the potential for excellence. NBA 2K26 is one of those games that either means the world or absolutely nothing to somebody. Hopefully, the Switch 2 version is good. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles marks the return of one of the greatest JRPG tactics games of all time. Yes, this seems to be a fairly standard remaster, but the original version is a masterpiece. I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
While still early days, October 2025 looks primed and ready to be dominated by JRPGs. Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s pre-release marketing has attracted quite a bit of criticism, but it will still probably be one of the best-selling Switch 2 games of the year. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake should be a great throwback to classic turn-based JRPGs.
If you are looking for a creepy puzzle-platformer, Little Nightmares 3 should have you covered, and it even supports co-op. Besides the new game, the original title is also receiving an enhanced edition.

Every Major Video Game Release Coming To PS5
From JRPGs to platform, racing, and fighting titles, here are all the major new PS5 games set to release in 2025 and later.
The Nintendo Switch 2 calendar for 2025 is wide open, and the console has a range of titles that are targeting debuts before the end of the year. Elden Ring, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Hades 2, Borderlands 4, and Kirby Air Riders should be huge, assuming they came out in 2025.
Now, while all these projects are targeting releases by the end of the year, we cannot guarantee that will be the case until release dates for the Nintendo Switch 2 versions are announced. Ultimately, developers should take all the time they need to ensure they deliver the best iterations of each title, and rushing them out will do nobody any good.
The Switch 2’s life has only just begun, and its future is bright but also mostly in shadow. What upcoming 2026 Switch 2 games will define the year? Will it be FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods? Or, maybe, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment?
There is, frankly, a huge chance that the biggest Switch 2 game of 2026 has yet to be revealed, which means that exciting times are ahead. Consoles tend to get things going with a few slow years that feature splashes of major releases rather than consistent output, so the Switch 2’s immediate future could be a bit slow.
