A new leak from the long-rumored Marvel’s Venom could be good news for those hoping to see concrete news about the project from Insomniac Games. Following Venom’s first appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, many fans have been clamoring for the character to get a solo outing.
The existence of a potential Venom PlayStation 5 game was exposed by the enormous Insomniac Games leak at the end of 2023. However, that leak suggested that Venom was due for a 2025 release. With three months to go of the year and its existence still not officially confirmed by Insomniac Games, that seems highly unlikely at this point. Game development timelines are not always linear, though, so it’s possible that the rumored title faced internal delays before its announcement.
Venom Leak Claims Combat and Traversal Systems Finished, Story ‘Smoothed Out’
A recent leak on X by Marvel leaker REDACTED Guy has claimed that, from what they know, various systems of the game are already complete. According to REDACTED Guy, both the combat and traversal systems for Venom were completed, and the story was “essentially smoothed out.” The game even allegedly had mocap and voice lines recorded by Venom actor Tony Todd, who tragically passed away in November 2024.
Rumors earlier this year suggested that a Venom reveal may still arrive in 2025, so hopes are high that players might finally get to see the rumored title. However, REDACTED Guy did note with their latest revelation that “the game is also small enough where due to the breach it could have been scrapped.” For now, it seems like a case of “wait and see” with Marvel’s Venom.
In the meantime, Insomniac Games continues to work on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, which may be set to appear at the rumored PlayStation State of Play later this month. It has been a while since anything concrete arrived about Marvel’s Wolverine, so it’ll be good to finally see how the exciting project is progressing.
