Climbing in PEAK can take a lot out of you, and when that hunger bar starts increasing, it can get a little stressful. Thankfully, there is plenty of food around to help you keep going.
Some foods just refill your stamina, while others also help you get badges. One of the food options that players have access to is Yellow Winterberries. That said, where can you find them, and are they even safe to eat? Here’s a simple guide to help you out with Yellow Winterberries in PEAK.
Not everything you find in PEAK is safe to eat. This guide breaks down which foods you can trust and which ones might ruin your climb.
How to Find Yellow Winterberries in PEAK
Yellow Winterberries are found in the Alpine biome. It’s the third biome that players can start after completing Tropics. Once you’re in Alpine, look for capybaras. A good trick for this is to find the hot springs. These steamy areas are scattered around Alpine, and the best way to find them is to look for smoke trails in the distance. These will usually lead you right to a hot spring.
Once you locate a hot spring, you will probably find some capybaras chilling there. When you find them, make a mental note of the spot in case you want to come back later for more Yellow Winterberries. The Yellow Winterberries themselves can be seen on top of the capybaras’ heads. To acquire one, simply walk up and grab it.
Keep in mind that the map changes every day, so the capybaras (and the berries) won’t be in the same place tomorrow. If you are having trouble finding them again, you can always check out PEAK’s official Discord and ask other players where they found them that day.
While you are up in the Alpine biome, don’t forget it gets really cold. The snowy terrain and icy wind can give players frostbite if they are not careful. As such, make sure to bring something to keep warm, like a Heat Pack or a Lantern.
How to Use Yellow Winterberries in PEAK
Like all food items, Yellow Winterberries can be eaten to reduce hunger. If you cook them, they will give you more energy, but they are not just for eating. If you want 100% completion, these berries can help you get two badges: Gourmand and Animal Serenading.
The Gourmand badge requires you to cook a meal with a Half Coconut, Honeycomb, Yellow Winterberry, and an Egg. Apart from Yellow Winterberries, all other items are easy to get. As for the Animal Serenading badge, players will have to play Bugle in front of any capybara.
