Wolverine PS5 Game Gets Release Window Update
Description
A rumored inside source has claimed that Marvel’s Wolverine is still on track for a 2026 release. Sony and Insomniac Games have largely kept quiet about the game since its announcement in 2021, leaving fans with little to go on regarding the development progress or when they might get their hands on the title. Now, it seems like the wait for Marvel’s Wolverine may not be as long as some had feared.
Despite there not being much information out about it yet, Marvel’s Wolverine has a lot of hype behind it. Insomniac struck gold with its Spider-Man series, with both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 ranking among the best-selling PlayStation games of all time. The Miles Morales spin-off also landed in the top 20, so applying the same formula to a superhero as popular as Wolverine seems like a surefire recipe for success if the studio can pull it off.
Insider Claims Marvel’s Wolverine Is Still Aiming for a 2026 Release
An anonymous source told MP1st that Insomniac still plans to release Wolverine sometime in 2026. Details beyond that are still murky, but it should incite sighs of relief among some PlayStation fans. While a 2023 ransomware attack revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine was set to be released in 2026, rumors have suggested that the title was pushed back by at least a year since then. That leak had also pointed to a 2025 release for Insomniac’s Venom game, which is highly unlikely at this point, so the old timeline was seeming increasingly unreliable. However, if this new information is accurate, things are still progressing as originally planned for Wolverine.
The supposed inside source also revealed some other Insomniac-related information. According to the leak, Venom is still in development, although it’s unclear how far along it is. Other sources have told MP1st that Eddie Brock will be the main character of that game and that Miguel O’Hara, better-known to fans as Spider-Man 2099, will appear in a future Insomniac project. While it’s been confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will still feature Peter Parker in a major role, the series has already introduced other Spider-Man alter egos from the comics, so it’s not a stretch to assume O’Hara will make his way into the franchise.
Beyond that, details are still murky for Wolverine on the PS5 and beyond. However, fans may not need to wait long to learn more about what to expect. A rumored 2026 release window aside, other rumors suggest Marvel’s Wolverine will be in the next State of Play, which will supposedly take place later in September. Only time will tell for sure, but it’s looking like there may be news on the horizon.
