Xbox Game Pass Adds Co-Op Game with ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Reviews
Description
As part of the second wave of July’s lineup, Xbox Game Pass is adding one of the top-rated indie games in the survival crafting genre: Abiotic Factor. Before the Xbox Game Pass deal, developer Deep Field first released the game in early access on Steam, where it has maintained a 95.5% player satisfaction rating from over 24,000 reviewers, earning Steam’s coveted “Overwhelmingly Positive” review badge.
2025 has been one of the biggest years for co-op games, with several indie titles managing to build large audiences. First came R.E.P.O., a fresh spin on co-op horror that took the internet by storm. Then there was PEAK, whose hilarious physics-based gameplay shot it to the top of the charts. Now, it seems to be Abiotic Factor‘s turn to shine and push the genre even further.

Abiotic Factor is unique in that it offers a well-balanced mix of humor, horror, and hassle. The story is packed with clever jokes, the handcrafted, eerie settings make players want to bring along companions, and the exploration and crafting offer just the right amount of challenge to keep the whole team engaged. There are also RPG elements like traits and skills that impact gameplay. Even better, Abiotic Factor incorporates some core mechanics of sandbox games, allowing players to tweak the experience and shape the campaign to their liking.
With its release on Xbox Game Pass, Abiotic Factor will also join the PlayStation Plus catalog and officially launch on Steam. This is especially important for Xbox Series X/S players, as the game supports crossplay co-op, allowing them to team up with friends on PlayStation 5 and PC for an unforgettable adventure.
