On July 8, Microsoft granted Game Pass subscribers early access to the annual Xbox Summer Sale for 2025, with over 300 games discounted throughout the month. Although Xbox only offered the ‘teaser’ version of the Summer Sale to current Game Pass members, the campaign will open to all users by July 17.
Users with an Xbox Game Pass membership at the Core, Standard, or Ultimate levels will have over a week to enjoy a preview of the Xbox Summer Sale offers. In addition to the Xbox Summer Sale, users can take advantage of the ID@Xbox Mega Sale for various indie titles, and the DC Franchise Sale for select games like Batman: Arkham Collection and Injustice 2. Both those DC Comics titles are currently marked down to $8.99 and $5.99, respectively. Along with early access to the sale, Game Pass subscribers can also enjoy some of 2025’s top PC and console games, including Doom: The Dark Ages and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, at no additional cost.
Amid rumors that Xbox Games Pass is a loss leader, a new source reveals that even accounting for first-party costs, the service is profitable.
For most of July, Xbox will offer discounts on over 300 games, with some going as low as 90% off. As reported by Pure Xbox, some of the main titles in the Xbox Summer Sale come from different genres, including first-person shooters, sports simulators, and open-world adventures. Some of the cheapest offers include markdowns of games like Mad Max to $4.99, and hits like Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Metro Exodus Gold Edition at $5.99 each. The critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2, which recently launched a surprise free update for Red Dead Online, is currently marked down to $14.99 for the Xbox Summer Sale. Both Trepang2 and TopSpin 2K25 were also discounted to the same $14.99 price tag each. While the Summer Sale is currently exclusive to Game Pass members, the full slate of discounts will open up to all Xbox customers by July 17.
