The two have grown considerably since their debut in the series, and their development won’t be stopping anytime soon. They are certain to reach new heights by the end of the series, but there is one character that the two will never surpass.

However, their ceiling is much higher, and towards the end of the story, they will be around the level of the Yonko, which is the same as Rayleigh and Gaban.

In their heyday, the Roger Pirates’ duo could have taken on any Yonko without too many problems. It may seem far-fetched for Gaban or Rayleigh to beat a Yonko, but the latter more or less admitted that he could have beaten Blackbeard if he weren’t old. As previously stated, Sanji and Zoro are the new era’s Gaban and Rayleigh, so they will inevitably reach a similar level. Even though they will grow stronger, there’s one person that will be superior to them.

Presently, Luffy stands on equal footing with some of the most infamous pirates, and the scary part is that his strength is only going to increase with time. Luffy has more or less mastered all three types of Haki in just a few years.

Presently, Luffy can use the Advanced versions of all kinds of Haki, which makes him part of an elusive list. The next step for Luffy will be mastering the advanced versions so that he can gain a distinct edge over his opponents. It would be remiss not to mention that Luffy will unlock another application of Conqueror’s Haki in Elbaf. Gaban has already shown that Haki can bypass immortality, and he will likely teach it to Luffy and Zoro (since both have Conqueror’s Haki).

Luffy’s biggest asset is the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. It is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into the ancient Sun God. Previously, the Devil Fruit belonged to Joyboy, which is why the World Government was desperate to get its hands on the power.

Thankfully, the Devil Fruit found its way to Luffy, who is the new Warrior of Liberation. The Devil Fruit has a lot of historical significance, but its power is just as impressive. With the help of the Devil Fruit, Luffy has taken down so many noteworthy pirates. Luffy has successfully awakened the Devil Fruit but lacks full control over it. In the coming arcs, he will try to get rid of this shortcoming.

Sanji and Zoro have ambitions of their own, but they will gladly give them up for Luffy’s sake. The latter wants to claim the One Piece and become the King of the Pirates.

It is a big goal, and Luffy cannot achieve it on his own, which is why he needs Zoro and Sanji’s help. The other Straw Hats will also play a crucial role in Luffy’s journey, and just because they’re weaker than Zoro and Sanji doesn’t make them less important.
